From MDJ report:
Walton escapes Woodstock for one-run victory
Walton overcame five Woodstock home runs to win 10-9 on Thursday at Raider Mountain and maintain its region lead.
Walton (15-3, 8-1 Region 5AAAAAA) led 7-1 at the end of the fourth inning, but Woodstock scored four in the top of the fifth to trim the deficit to 7-5. The Raiders added two in the bottom half, but the Wolverines responded again with three in the sixth to shrink their deficit to 9-8.
Walton added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth, which it needed after Chandler Adams’ seventh-inning homer again pulled Woodstock to within one run. Jason Rooks, the Raiders’ fourth pitcher, refocused following Adams’ homer and retired the side to record his second save in as many nights. Michael Guldberg and Ben Spencer each batted 3-for-4 with an RBI for the Raiders. Chris Hummel and Chandler Miller each had two hits, while Tyler Heinrichs went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in the fourth and four RBIs. Carter Kieboom had two RBIs.
Aaron Poporek (1-0), who came on in relief in the fourth, gave up two hits over 1 1/3 innings to get the victory. Walton will travel to Woodstock on Saturday to close the two-game series.
